Nick Saban benched Paul Tyson, Bear Bryant’s great grandson on Saturday in the second half of the Iron Bowl, after he mishandled a snap on a field goal attempt, which was lined up from 38 yards.

It came late in the third quarter with 2:18 remaining when Tyson botched the hold, then stood up and tried to fire a pass to Cameron Latu, which fell incomplete from the Auburn 19-yard line. It would have been Alabama’s first points of the night in a frustrating game for the Alabama offense.

Freshman punter James Burnip stepped in for Tyson for the hold of Will Reichard’s 30-yard field goal attempt.
