A winning habit continues to accompany the Golden State Warriors, delivering their 17th win of the season with a 118-103 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. It was another win set up by a spectacular defensive performance, particularly against the ever alarming threat of Damian Lillard and C.J McCollum.

The Golden State Warriors have pushed their win streak to six with yet another dominant outing against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Both teams went toe-to-toe in the first twelve minutes, the Warriors surrendering an early 16-9 lead to be up one at the end of the first. The Dubs, as they’ve done so many times early this season, began to tighten the screws and kept the Blazers to just four points in the first six and a half minutes of the second.

After Portland rallied and tied the game at 42 with just under three minutes remaining in the half, Golden State made the decisive move in the game in breathtaking fashion. They finished the second on a 16-2 run, punctuated by Stephen Curry’s third three of the first half with eight seconds remaining.

With the defense and offense working smoothly in unison, the 14 point lead rose to 20 three minutes into the third quarter. By the end of it, the Warriors had conceded just 70 points and had built a 91-70 lead. Although Curry was the main architect offensively, each of the five starters had scored in double figures by the start of the fourth.

Portland threatened to make it a ball game again early in the last, led by Anfernee Simons’ series of triples. With Lillard (5-15) and McCollum (6-17) struggling under the heat of the Warrior defense, Simons breathed life into Portland’s offense with 19 points off the bench on 7-13 shooting including 5-10 from three.

Although the Blazers cut the margin to eight with just over six minutes remaining, the Warriors steadied on the back of some well-designed offensive plays. Curry and Wiggins solidified another win in the dying stages, ending with 32 and 25 points respectively in the 15 point win.
