Man dies after Clearwater shooting, police say

CLEARWATER — A man has died after a Clearwater shooting Saturday afternoon, police said.

Clearwater Police received a call a little after 12:30 p.m. from Palmetto Street and Vine Avenue about the incident. When emergency services arrived, the victim, Alex Walker, 23, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

Walker was pronounced dead an hour later, police said.

Clearwater homicide detectives are investigating the shooting, and do not believe it was a random act.

One person Clearwater police described as a suspect is Amani Jackson, 20. Jackson is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs around 130 pounds, Clearwater police said.

Jackson has had three felony charges against him since 2019, according to the Pinellas County Clerk’s Office, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, which was lessened to a misdemeanor; being a delinquent in possession of a firearm; and fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer.
