Baltimore’s dirt biking community often gets a bad name. Those loud bikes zooming through city streets may soon get a designated place of its own with the help of one Baltimore based group.
The group is called, “Street Runnerz” and it’s working with Baltimore City Hall to create a dirt bike park off of Edison Highway in East Baltimore. It would allow for dirt bikers and skateboarders to have a safe place to ride.
“This will give the kids an opportunity to go there. They can ride their bikes there and guess what? It makes the community safer, it cuts down on the dangers, the pitfalls because it’s been a big problem,” said Sorcez Dieniro, Member of Street Runnerz.
Dieniro understands that the practice through city streets gives them a bad wrap as he’s been riding dirt bikes since 12-years-old. But that bad name the community gets is something he and others are working to change. In the coming days, Dieniro plans to speak with Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and those on city council about this idea.
“A lot of these kids are struggling and they’re just asking for help. Some of them really want to get into motocross. No one is giving them the bridge. This is what Street Runnerz is going to bring to the forefront,” said Dieniro.
Dieniro adds that his group is also in talks with Anne Arundel County to reserve a section of trail space near BWI Airport for them to safely ride.
“Street Runnerz” will also be the name of an up and coming reality TV show on the ROKU Channel which is expected to positively highlight Baltimore’s dirt bikin
