San Jose Sharks general manager Doug Wilson has taken a leave of absence, according to the team. The announcement was made on Friday.
The temporary leave is due to a medical condition. At this time, we do not know how long Wilson will be sidelined with this health problem.
In his absence, assistant general manager Joe Will has taken over the reins. He will oversee the day-to-day operations until Wilson can return.
The former player was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame earlier this month. The 64-year-old did not announce this issue during his Hall of Fame speech.
He thanked his wife for her effort during his career.
Will’s first game as the interim GM is on Sunday, November 28th. The Sharks are on the road against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
The Sharks come into the game with a 10-9-1 record.
