Which long-term Emmerdale character will leave next?

I have been watching the classic Emmerdale reruns for about two years now, and in that time I have seen the introduction of several characters who would go on to be on the show for many years. The Windsors, the Dingles, Terry Woods, Paddy Kirk, Bob Hope etc.

Since Nicola Blackstock's debut episode aired today, it got me thinking which long-term character may be next to exit the show. Of course we recently saw Diane Sugden leave after 22 years, and she was a stalwart for sure.

I have a feeling Rodney may go next year, or perhaps the year after. But any suggestions as to who you think may leave next?,

It’s getting now with Emmerdale that whoever leaves next it wouldn’t really matter anymore.

    I think:

David, Victoria, Eric, Rodney, Jacob will be gone on the next few years

Rodney could be a possibility. He doesn’t really have any storylines now, plus doesn’t the actor have health issues?
    Zak for similar reasons.

I think Patrick Mower, who plays Rodney, is part time on the show nowadays. He is 83 years old, and I believe he does have health issues, albeit not quite as serious as those that plague Steve Halliwell who plays Zak.

I do get the feeling that in Steve Halliwell's case, he never wants to leave, and is clinging onto the legacy of playing Zak Dingle. It's a case of perhaps the show also feel Zak is too important a character to lose, so they are certainly never going to write him out completely, unless the actor wants to leave.

As an add on, I have a feeling we are going to be stuck with Bob Hope for another 21 years...

He underwent major heart surgery over two years ago. He has also battled with alcoholism, depression and drug use over the years.

Yes he seems a decent chap in real life. A good actor too.

But he's had a hard life off-screen. He was also homeless and slept on the streets, long before he got the role of Zak Dingle

Bob is Emmerdale’s equivalent of Sean Tully

    Well I don’t know if she’s considered long-term but hopefully Liv. 😡😡

The “poor little me” “everything has to be about me” act/s wore very thin years ago.

Come to think of it there’s not one thing I actually like about the character.

I’ve finally found a character I despise more than Nikhil. 😂

Her last appearance was 30th March 2020 according to Emmerdale Wiki

Since 2018 she has basically appeared in a little over 30 episodes
