Tom Brady spent five years with the Michigan Wolverines. How many times did the legendary quarterback beat Ohio State in that time?

The annual Ohio State vs. Michigan game has featured many great players over the year. It’s safe to say none of them went on to match the incredible NFL success of Tom Brady.

Before he was an NFL-winning machine, Brady was a relative mortal as a quarterback for the Wolverines.

Even if he didn’t light the college football world on fire, he still proved his winning ways with his rivalry game record.

How many times did Tom Brady beat Ohio State with Michigan

Technically, Brady’s record against Ohio State while at Michigan was 4-1.

However, that record doesn’t exactly represent his time as a starter.

Brady took a redshirt in 1995 when the Wolverines beat the Buckeyes, 31-23. He was a backup for the 12-9 victory in 1996 and the 20-14 win in 1997.

In 1998, Brady got the starting quarterback job in Ann Arbor and led them to a 10-3 record. The Ohio State game that year didn’t end well for Michigan. They lost 31-16 but Brady did show his ability by setting Michigan records for pass attempts and completions, which he later broke.

Brady got his revenge in 1999 when he led his team to a 24-17 victory over the rivals. That 10-2 Michigan team finished the year ranked No. 5.

So Brady went 4-1 as a member of the Wolverines but 1-1 as a starter against the Buckeyes.
