Who's Playing

Indiana @ Purdue

Current Records: Indiana 2-9; Purdue 7-4

What to Know

The Indiana Hoosiers have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. IU and the Purdue Boilermakers will face off in a Big Ten battle at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium. If the contest is anything like the Hoosiers' 44-41 victory from their previous meeting in November of 2019, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.

IU suffered a grim 35-14 defeat to the Minnesota Golden Gophers last week. IU was down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. No one had a standout game offensively for IU, but they got scores from QB Grant Gremel and WR Malachi Holt-Bennett.

Meanwhile, Purdue didn't have too much trouble with the Northwestern Wildcats last week as they won 32-14. WR Milton Wright had a stellar game for the Boilermakers as he caught eight passes for three TDs and 213 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Wright's 53-yard TD reception in the second quarter.

Special teams collected 14 points for Purdue. K Mitchell Fineran delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.

The Hoosiers have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 15 point spread they are up against. Now might not be the best time to take IU against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past three consecutive games.

IU is now 2-9 while Purdue sits at 7-4. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: IU is 200th worst in the nation in yards per game, with only 298.7 on average. The Boilermakers have experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 228th fewest rushing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 75.9 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
