SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Two people were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Johnston County.
A driver traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a guardrail near the Interstate 95 interchange Friday night.
The car was sent flying into the air and landed against a large traffic sign, officials said.
Both the driver and the passenger were wearing seatbelts but were still seriously injured.
