Paris Saint-Germain is dealing with injuries to their midfield. Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gueye, Ander Herrera, and Georginio Wijnaldum are all set to miss some time.

As a result, two of the jewels of the Paris Saint-Germain youth system, Xavi Simons and Édouard Michut, could see time this Sunday against AS Saint-Étienne. RMC Sport confirms  that Mauricio Pochettino’s staff called in the two teenagers to integrate the two to train with the first-team group on Saturday.

Over the past few weeks, the supporters have been vocal over seeing these two players over veteran players like Danilo Pereira or Rafinha that might not offer the creativity or spark the teenagers can provide.

Furthermore, with Simons’ contract expiring in June, PSG needs to begin to show the midfielder that he’s part of their plans. Verratti’s inability to stay healthy, the Netherlands international could bring something to the midfield that lessens the blow felt with the Italian out of the squad.

It will be interesting to see whether both players see significant playing time against Saint-Étienne.
