The Reading Royals were dominated Friday night by Trois-Rivières for the second consecutive game.

The Lions clobbered Reading 9-1 in the middle matchup of a three-game set in Trois-Rivières. The Lions defeated the Royals 5-1 in the opening game of the series on Wednesday night.

Forward Anthony Nellis and defenseman Charles-David Beaudoin each scored twice for Trois-Rivières on Friday night. Five other Lions also found the back of the net.

Reading’s lone goal was scored by forward Grant Cooper. Forward Cam Strong was credited with the assist.

Kirill Ustimenko earned the start in net for the Royals, recording 16 saves and allowing five goals in just under 25 minutes of play. Hayden Hawkey entered the game in relief of Ustimenko and made 15 saves on 19 shots in just over 35 minutes of play.

Before the game, Reading announced it had traded for Jacksonville forward Ryan Roth in exchange for future considerations. Roth did not see action against Trois-Rivières on Friday.

Roth played in 10 games with Wheeling in the 2020-21 season, recording no points. He saw action in 11 games this year with the Icemen, registering three points in his second ECHL season.
