SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU women’s soccer star Ashley Hatch made history in her debut with the United States Women’s National Team.
Hatch and USWNT played against Australia in an international friendly match on Friday, November 26.
Less than 30 seconds after kickoff, Hatch buried the ball into the back of the net to score the first goal of the match.
It was the third-fastest goal scored in USWNT history.

Hatch was named to the USWNT roster on November 10.
The former Cougar star only had two caps to her name since making her debut in a friendly against Switzerland in 2016. Her second cap came in 2018 against Mexico. However, since then Hatch has not seen any attention from the national team, that is until now.
Hatch was most recently called up to the USWNT in November of 2020 for the USWNT’s training camp in the Netherlands.
She is a finalist for the NWSL Most Valuable Player award following her Golden Boot winning season where she scored 10 goals in 20 appearances. She scored the game’s only goal for her club, the Washington Spirit, to secure a spot in the NWSL playoff semi-finals.
