Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies may have just suffered a major setback. In the first quarter of the Grizzlies' loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Morant suffered a non-contact injury to his left knee, forcing him to leave the game. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that Morant will undergo an MRI tonight.

Morant took to Twitter after the game to share a message regarding his injury.

Injuries are never timed well but this one feels especially disappointing for one of the league's brightest stars, as he suffered this injury during a true breakout season.

The 2019-20 Rookie of the Year has been tremendous, averaging 25.3 points per game along with 7.1 assists and 5.8 rebounds while posting the most efficient scoring numbers of his career. He had been the primary force behind one of the league's top offensive units. Much of Morant's impact derives from his otherworldly explosiveness, so keeping an eye on his injury and rehabilitation process will be very noteworthy.

The Grizzlies are 9-10 after tonight's defeat to the Hawks. They may have to try to survive without their best player for a while. Their next game is on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings. For as long as Morant is out, it'll be on Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane to carry the offense.
