Talisker 18 Year Old Single Malt
Review
While preferences on the matter are ultimately personal, it's hard to look beyond this whisky when considering the perfect age for peated Scotch. With 18 years in cask, the influence of smokey earth has tamed slightly but remains a constant and enjoyable presence throughout. Meanwhile, intense fruit notes (dried and fresh) play wonderfully against floral tones and hints of leather and cigar box. Peat also brings energy to the palate and lingers well onto an incredibly lengthy finish.
