P.K. Subban was back in town Friday night, playing against his former team at Bridgestone Arena.

And fans brought the boos for him.

Subban was wearing a New Jersey Devils uniform, meaning Nashville Predators coach John Hynes' former team of four seasons was in town.

The occasion also happened to be Predators captain Roman Josi’s 700th regular-season game.

Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi (59) celebrates his goal against the New Jersey Devils during the first period at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., Friday, Nov. 26, 2021.

Josi celebrated with his seventh goal of the season, which put the Predators ahead with 12:29 left  in the first period of what turned out to be a 4-2 victory.

Predators forward Matt Duchene was robbed twice during the first period by Devils goalie Jonathan Bernier. New Jersey had just two shots on goal during the first.

The Predators were coming off a loss Wednesday, one of their worst of the season, one that forced them to work on Thanksgiving Day.

Predators rookie Philip Tomasino's fourth goal of the season made it 2-0 with 16:30 left in the second, not long after Tommy Novak poked a loose puck from behind Juuse Saros to save a goal on the other end.

Mikael Granlund made it 3-0 with 13:15 left in the third.

Andreas Johnsson ruined Saros' shutout bid 11:58 into the third.

Alexandre Carrier added an empty-netter with 1:10 remaining. Tomas Tatar scored for the Devils right after that.

The Predators improved to 11-8-1, while the Devils fell to 8-6-4.

Nashville plays at Colorado at 8 p.m. Saturday.
