Cranford had not trailed after the first quarter of a game since Sept. 10 and had spent pretty much its entire late summer and fall overwhelming all comers.
But then came West Morris, well-balanced, well-prepared and, well, just plain good.
Scratch that. It was more like almost perfect against a team that had not experienced a setback all season.
Paced by the accurate passing of senior Trevor Hillier and the running of Stefano Montella and Noah Turner, the Wolfpack scored on each of their seven possessions and added a defensive touchdown for good measure on the way to a 53-14 victory over the 11th-ranked and previously undefeated Cougars in the NJSIAA/Rothman Orthopaedics Football Championships North, Group 3 regional final Friday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
