Munhall shooting suspect turns himself in
A Munhall man who was being sought in connection with a shooting on Thanksgiving night has turned himself in, Allegheny County police said Tuesday.Darnell Pearson, 53, is charged with attempted homicide and related charges in the incident just before 11 p.m. Thursday, police said.According to the complaint filed in the case, Pearson started beating on the door of a home on Scotia Way in Munhall. The woman inside — Pearson's former girlfriend — grabbed a knife and provided a knife to her new boyfriend, Darryl Johnson Jr., before hiding him in a bedroom.Pearson illegally entered the house with a .45-caliber revolver, police said, and went to the bedroom. The woman said she heard Pearson say, "You stabbed me," then gunshots. She found Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.After Pearson fled, paramedics took Johnson to UPMC-Mercy Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.The woman told police when Pearson entered the home, he told her he was displeased she had a new boyfriend. Police also said the woman's 10-year-old son was in the next room when the shooting occurred.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tipline at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
