EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders is lining up a harrowing new story for Stuart Highway, as he gets bad news from the doctor next month.
Stuart's world will be turned upside down when he goes for a medical checkup, following some unsettling symptoms of late.
Upcoming scenes will hint that all is not as it seems with Stuart (Ricky Champ) when he gets into a panic during his gym photoshoot with Peter.
Nancy and Peter ask Stuart and Rainie to take part in a transformation programme at the gym, before and after shots included.
Although Peter attempts to lie by claiming he's offered the last spot elsewhere, Rainie soon catches him out – meaning her and Stuart are in.
All appears to be going well until Peter asks Stuart to take his top off. Feeling uncomfortable, Stuart rushes out.
Rainie begins to pick up on Stuart's strange behaviour at the start of next month, as he hasn't confided in her about what's going on.
After receiving a text confirming his doctor's appointment, Stuart acts suspiciously, leaving Rainie confused.
Stuart later helps Rocky with his bags when he arrives home from the hospital, prompting Sonia to realise something is up with him.
As he heads to his doctor's appointment, Stuart is gobsmacked to find out the truth.
Unable to process the news, Stuart heads to The Vic and begins to drink heavily.
When Sonia spots him looking worse for wear, she steps in and decides to take him home.
Back at the house, Stuart tells Sonia what happened at the doctors and she tries to help him, until he snaps.
Stuart gets further tense when Rainie mentions Sonia brought him home last night.
Still worried, Sonia visits Stuart and encourages him to tell Rainie, but he refuses. Not wanting Stuart to be alone, Sonia offers to accompany him to the appointment.
This prompts Rainie to become suspicious when she spots them together later on, but will Stuart tell her what's really going on?
EastEnders airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, December 6 on BBC One.
