Long Beach is just two months removed from IndyCar drivers racing through its Downtown area during the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach but as the race pivots back to its normal spring time slot in 2022 tickets are going back on sale, race organizers said Friday.

Tickets for the 2022 Grand Prix go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. The race weekend will run from April 8 through April 10.

The 2021 race was held in late September after the 2020 race was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to push the race back this year allowed race organizers to welcome fans back to the Long Beach race with some health protocols in place.

“We are delighted to return to our traditional April race dates in 2022,” said Jim Michaelian, Grand Prix Association of Long Beach President and CEO. “Two months ago, our 2021 event went off very successfully after being delayed due to the pandemic. Now we get to bring the excitement and family fun back to the streets of Long Beach in the Spring.”

The announcement from the Grand Prix Association notes that the 2022 race will follow all local health rules and will announce those as race weekend gets closer.

Joining the usual slate of attractions like the Super Drift Challenge and the Grand Prix Lifestyle Expo will be a weekend double-header of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America, organizers said in a statement Friday.

Set-up for the 2022 race could happen a little faster than normal after the City Council voted earlier this year to allow race organizers to leave up some infrastructure after the September race. The guard rails and track seating are required to come down three weeks after race weekend.

Pricing will range from $37 for a Friday general admission ticket to $168 for a three-day ticket. Tickets can be purchased starting Monday at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach’s website.
