The New England Revolution made a commitment to the back end on Friday when they resigned right back Brandon Bye to a contract extension through 2024 with a one-year club option.

“He has been a fixture in our first 11 over the past two seasons and continues to grow into his position,” said Revs’ sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena. “I believe he can become one of the top right backs in MLS.”

Bye, 25, had provided an offensive element to the back line since joining the team in 2018.  He has appeared in 105 games with five goals and eight assists and logged 2,477 minutes in 29 starts this season, helping the Revolution secure the first Supporters’ Shield in Club history.

The Revolution will face New York City FC in the MLS Cup Eastern Conference semifinals on Tuesday night (7:30) at Gillette Stadium.
