NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A fire tore through a Brooklyn apartment building Thursday night, leaving several people without a home and injuring some firefighters.
The flames destroyed one apartment building and damaged two others on Devoe Street around 11 p.m. Thursday night, fire officials said.
The four-alarm fire at the three-story building required 170 firefighters to get it under control.
Fire officials say six firefighters were left with minor injuries, while 12 residents are now homeless.
Nearby resident Tina Simon said the flames were raging during the waning minutes of Thanksgiving.
“We were worried, we thought we might have to evacuate the whole street because it was so impressive,” she said.
The fire’s cause is still under investigation.
