A Lafayette man is dead following a two-car wreck in Iberia Parish on Thanksgiving.

Wilford Henry, 36, died after rear-ending an 18-wheeler on U.S. Highway 90 near Ross Road at around 6:45 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, according to Louisiana State Police Troop I.

Police said Henry was not wearing a seat belt while driving his pickup truck at high rate of speed when he rear ended the semi, which was in front of him in the eastbound lane. Henry died from injuries he sustained in the wreck.

The semi driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered no injuries and passed a field sobriety test. Toxicology results for Henry remain pending, according to LSP.
