With Black Friday here, Wrentham police are telling shoppers to not only bring their "cash [and] credit cards" but also "lots of patience" because traffic is starting to ramp up.
"THE FUN...HAS BEGUN!" wrote the department in a Facebook post.
Chief Bill McGrath said Black Friday backups on Interstate 495 started early. He said traffic was steady at 6 a.m., but quickly changed almost two hours later.
McGrath said "brave shoppers" filled the breakdown lane that leads to the Wrentham Outlets off ramp.
Meanwhile, he noted that Route 1A is "fairing a little better" with backups stalling near the I-495 northbound ramp.
The chief said officers will do their best to direct traffic but advised drivers to "definitely avoid the area" unless they're going to the Outlets to shop.
McGrath said this issue will most likely last through the weekend.
