Venutius Tomb
Welcome to the Venutius Tomb page for the IGN Wiki Guide and Walkthrough for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This page will detail how to complete Venutius Tomb for the Tombs of the Fallen expansion. Check out the Tombs of the Fallen DLC Guide for details and links to all the Tombs of the Fallen.
How to Complete Venutius Tomb
Venutius Tomb is in southern Eurvicscire, very close to the Anlaf's Lookout highpoint. Use the raven when in the vicinity of the tomb to spot the swirling spire and pinpoint the symbol or rune carved in stone. Inspect the symbol to reveal the entrance.
The passageway from the entrance to the main chamber is long and requires a fair amount of parkouring, with optional paths available. There is a minor loot chest along the way, concealed behind an ice wall next to a mastadon skull.
You will arrive at the main chamber at a high vantage point. The closed gate to the tomb is high up on the far wall. Four pressure plates will be revealed. There is one square pressure plate directly in front of the gate to the tomb. On either side of this pressure plate are two more square pressure plates. The fourth pressure plate is a round one. It is in front of the center square pressure plate. You must find the objects required to activate all four pressure plates to open the gate. You can activate the pressure plates in any order.
Dive down to a hay cart below, and use a rope lift to get up to the pressure plates.
Select the pressure plate below to jump to details for activating it.
Round Pressure Plate
To the left of the round pressure plate is a rope slide. Slide down the rope, and jump down a couple of levels. Follow the short passage to a side chamber with a lever. Activate the lever and pick up the flanged orb that appears. Head back to the main chamber, throw the orb up one level and jump up a couple of levels into a deep trench.
Follow the trench upward until you arrive in an area with a moveable stone, near the hay cart you jumped into earlier. Set the orb down and slide the stone in front of a ramp. Pick up the orb and carry it up the ramp, over the stone, onto some ropes, and up a couple of levels.
When you see a small stand of arrows, pause and look around for something to shoot. Higher up is a raised drawbridge. Shoot the chains and drop the drawbridge. More on that later.
Proceed with the orb up to the level of the pressure plates, jumping along several beams and hanging platforms. When you get near the top, walk up a ramp and throw the orb up to the next level. Get the orb, jump up one more level, and activate the pressure plate.
Center Square Pressure Plate
The center square pressure plate is easy to activate. Simply break a couple of crates to clear the path, and slide the pedestal into position.
Right Side Square Pressure Plate
To activate the square pressure plate on the right side of the main chamber, head across the drawbridge near it that you dropped earlier, and through the doorway. If you missed that earlier step, jump to the second hanging platform by the drawbridge and shoot the chains, then jump to the drawbridge.
The next chamber is full of ice walls that form a maze. Wind your way through the maze to a locked door. Alternatively, you can smash your way to the locked door. There are oil jars next to some of the ice walls, so be careful you don't set yourself on fire. Once at the locked door, slide through the low opening to the right of it.
In the next room you will find a breakable stone wall, and a stairway up to another room on the right. Break the stone wall to reveal a pedestal. The door out of this room is still locked, so you need to find the key. Head up the stairs on the right.
Break some ice walls in the next room until you find an opening in the floor. Jump into the opening, and move quickly across three spiked floor traps to the bureau on the opposite side of the room. Collect the key on the bureau.
Return to the pedestal, unlock the door, and push the pedestal into the ice wall maze. Clear a path through the maze for the pedestal. Don't bother breaking ice walls with wood beams at the floor. You cannot slide the pedestal over the wood beams. Work your way through this room and back into the main chamber, then slide the pedestal onto the square pressure plate.
Left Side Square Pressure Plate
For the final pressure plate, drop the drawbridge on the left side of the main chamber. You can shoot the chains from the level the pressure plate is on.
Move across the drawbridge and down the corridor until you come to a closed gate. You will find an opal here, on the other side of the low wall to the right of the gate. Climb through a raised opening on the right, and travel along the passage until you come to a barred door. Move further down the passage and slide through a low opening, then climb through another raised opening.
Move up the ledges in the next chamber and up to a platform. Jump to the first hanging platform and then to the next hanging platform. Move quickly to the far edge of that platform, look through an opening in the wall for the barred door, and shoot it quickly. This platform will begin lowering as soon as you land on it, and the line of sight to the barred door will disappear. It helps to use Odin's Sight before jumping to the hanging platforms, to highlight the block on the door. Slowing time with the Focus of the Nornir ability also helps. Jump to the left off the platform and circle back to the door, which is now unlocked.
Move through the door and along a corridor. Slide through a low opening and keep moving until you find the pedestal. To the left of the pedestal is an ice wall concealing a minor loot chest. Push the pedestal around the next corner to discover the corridor is blocked by a large suspended cage.
Through a nearby doorway is another suspended cage. Move through the pit under the cage to the other side of the room. Parkour up a ramp and some beams to an elevated area behind the cage, where you will find a moveable stone. Push the stone onto the cage. This will lower the cage, and raise the cage in the corridor.
Return to the pedestal and push it further down the corridor, until you reach a closed gate. Look up to see a ladder secured by a block. Shoot the block to release the ladder. The ladder will not reach the ground, so push the pedestal to it, climb onto the pedestal, and jump to the ladder. Climb the ladder to access the area above the gate.
Turn the wheel to open the gate, return to the pedestal, and push it down the corridor and across the drawbridge to the pressure plate.
Complete the Tomb and Collect the Artifact
The gate to the tomb will open when all four pressure plates have been activated.
Move quickly through the gate and around a large stone structure. This area causes a drunk effect. Enter the tomb and a cutscene will begin. The ghost of the tomb's occupant will appear. He will introduce himself and explain how he met his end, and the cutscene will end.
Loot the gold chest to receive the Fallen Hero Helmet. This completes Venutius Tomb. A page for Venutius will be added to your Codex Database.
Exit through the passage next to the gold chest. When you come to a rope slide, either climb down to the chamber below or use the slide and drop off halfway through the chamber. On the left wall of the chamber is a crevice blocked by an ice wall. Shoot the ice wall and enter the small chamber beyond, where you will find the Venutius Tomb Artifact. Collect the artifact, and Eivor will say "Yet another one of these. 'oænosȏd'" There are a couple of notes in this chamber that might be of interest.
With the tomb complete and the artifact in hand, you can climb out of the large chamber and exit the tomb, or simply fast travel to another location.
