Getting wins and ranking up in Halo Infinite’s Ranked playlist can be challenging and rewarding. However, a bizarre glitch affecting the Oddball mode is actually taking away Skill Rank Points for being victorious.

Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer mode has delighted fans since its surprise launch on November 15. Since then, players on PC and Xbox have been jumping into combat as Spartans once again.

One of the most popular aspects of Halo Infinite is the game’s Ranked playlist, which lets players earn Skill Rank Points by beating opponents in competitive game modes. The better you play, the higher rank you will earn.

Unfortunately, there is a major issue affecting Oddball in this playlist, as players report they are losing Rank Points even though they won the game.

Player holding the Oddball in Halo Infinite

In Halo Infinite, Oddball is played over three rounds. Each round ends when one team has held the ball for 100 seconds, or when the timer runs out. The first squad to win two rounds is declared the victor.

Unfortunately in Ranked, it appears that Skill Points are being handed out to the team who held the ball for the longest total time. This means that teams who only won once could have more total Oddball time if they were dominant during that round.

This issue was first discovered by user ‘RivenOrBust’ on the CompetitiveHalo subreddit, who complained that his opponents were awarded the victory even though they didn’t actually win.

Unfortunately, they weren’t the only players to suffer that fate. One Halo fan complained that “Oddball in Ranked is really bugged,” while another claimed it “happens all the time.”

“You lose [Ranked Points] if the other team has more time overall across the three rounds, really annoying,” wrote Tu2d2d. “I played so hard last night, we won Round 3 by a second, [but we] lost rank because the post-game report is bugged.”

Clearly, this is not supposed to be happening, however, 343 is yet to acknowledge the issue. Hopefully, the game’s developers are already aware of the issue and working on a fix.

In the meantime, make sure you’re getting the most from your Halo Infinite experience with our best controller settings.
