Just when things were starting to look good for Chelsea's star wing-back, Ben Chilwell, team boss Tomas Tuchel reveals the defender has suffered a partial ACL tear to his right knee.

The Chelsea star wing-back has had a phenomenal start to his season—scoring 3 goals and handing out 1 assist in only 6 games played in the Premier League. Earlier this week, he had a chance to showcase his attacking prowess among Europe's biggest clubs in the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea faced off against a struggling Juventus side—the Blues made sure to capitalize on the opportunity—thrashing the Turin-based side 4-0 at home. However, their celebrations were limited due to Chilwell being assisted off the pitch after coming together with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. After speculation of a serious knee injury, Chelsea boss Tomas Tuchel, finally revealed the true status of Chilwell's worrying injury situation.

Via SkySports:

“Ben has a partial injury of his ACL and the decision is to treat it conservatively,” said Tuchel. “And the next six weeks will tell the story actually if he makes it and if he will be fully available after the six weeks, or if he needs surgery after that.”

“This for him personally is a very bad moment, because he was so good and so full of confidence, he was a huge part of our performances and victories in recent weeks. It's a shame and very sad.”

Though it looks bad, Chelsea will hope that the English defender can return later in the season without having to partake in season-ending surgery.
