The Toyota Corolla is more common than the common cold, and recently celebrated 50 million international sales. This car is still an international best seller today, in both sedan and hatchback form, and Toyota continues to deliver exciting special edition packages to keep people interested. We're getting hot under the collar for what could be the most exciting Corolla ever produced; the Gazoo Racing Corolla, but on the other side of the pond, Europe is getting ready for the updated 2022 car, which promises to bring a whole host of new tech, exterior styling options, and even a new Special Edition.

The European Corolla Hatchback, Touring Sports, and Sedan are all getting ready for some tasty new tech in the form of Toyota's latest multimedia infotainment system, which will be offered as standard on Mid+, GR SPORT, TREK and High grades. The new system offers a faster CPU, an eight-inch High Definition central touchscreen and cloud-based navigation with continuous traffic information. As can be expected from a 2022 model, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard too.

The exterior of the 2022 Corolla is blessed with two new colors, namely Platinum White Pearl and Silver Metallic. These colors will also be offered as a bi-tone combination on Hatchback and Touring Sports body styles. The Corolla Sedan is also getting a new set of 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels as standard on Mid+ models.

The exciting new Trek Special Edition will also be making its way to Toyota showrooms in 2022. This collaboration with bicycle manufacturer TREK Bikes takes shape in the form of a high-grade Touring Sports model that features tons of interior features, and a more athletic exterior with a 20-mm lift in ride height. The Trek Special Edition is powered by a 2.0-liter self-charging hybrid electric system and features 18-inch alloy wheels and a black leather interior. Pre-sales of the 2022 Corolla will begin by late November, and deliveries are expected to start in Europe by January of 2022. We'll have to wait and see if similar changes are made to the US mode
