PITTSBURGH — Snow flurries fell from the sky as shoppers lined up outside Best Buy on McKnight Road.

“We got here at 4 a.m. just because it’s our first Black Friday here in the United States and we wanted to know what all the hype is about,” said Shubhem Virmani.

They weren’t the only first-timers in line, but the consensus from all was the experience wasn’t all that great.

“We are a little disappointed we had expected there to be hundreds of people in a queue and we only got here at 4 a.m. and thought we’d be at the back but turns out we were one of the first people,” Virmani said.

Only about 50 shoppers walked through the doors at 5 a.m. and just two hours later, Target in the same plaza saw about 100 shoppers.

“We’ve been doing this since we ever could. I’ve been shopping Black Friday since I was a little kid and it’s a tradition we always do. So we are here trying to get the best deals for everybody and Christmas presents,” said Lane Poziviak.

The big item this year is the PlayStation 5, but local stores had already posted it was out of stock. Some shoppers told Channel 11 there were just no deals to be found, which could be due to supply chain issues.

“I think last year was actually a little more hectic,” Poziviak said.

Nationwide, Black Friday is expected to break record numbers when it comes to shoppers. The question is if they all make it out to brick and mortar stores.

“We keep the tradition alive, we got to keep it alive. It’s good to see everyone, get out and just have fun with everyone,” Poziviak said.

Most of the deals do run through Cyber Monday so if you missed your chance on Friday, you still have the weekend.
