A Grinnell woman was recently sentenced to prison for a Jefferson incident.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Sharlee Royce pled guilty to a Class C Felony for first degree criminal mischief, two Class D Felonies for second degree theft and third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine, and a serious misdemeanor for trespassing. Royce was sentenced to ten years in prison for the C Felony charge, five years in prison for each of the D Felonies and one year in jail for the misdemeanor charge, with the sentences to be served concurrently.

The charges stemmed from an incident on January 12th. Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of West Head Street in Jefferson at 2:39am where Royce and two other suspects were seen removing catalytic converters from three vehicles. 

Royce was also ordered to pay over $3,000 in fines, victim restitution, court costs and court-appointed attorney fees. The other two suspects, Nicholas White was sentenced to ten and five year prison sentences, to be served concurrently, for two felony charges and Jason Trotter has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for spring of next year.
