After finishing an acting academy while being a high-school student, Jin applied to the two best acting universities in the country - Seojong and Konkuk. He decided to enroll, choosing an even more competitive way - by early admission. Konkuk and Seojong had a ratio of 200:1 and 157:1 with the 10 students quota. Some people try to pass the Konkuk exams for years! However, Jin successfully passed all the acting exams and enrolled on the first try.

According to his words, people from the first floor of his academy were going up to the third floor to see who was the guy accepted to Konkuk and congratulate him. Jin studied hard and successfully graduated as a qualified actor. Right now, he is the only member of BTS with higher education! Moreover, he graduated with a double major in Film, Theater, and Animation. He also has a Master's degree.

Jin is naturally gifted and learns anything he wants in a concise time. He is also the kind of person who always wants to try or learn something new. For example, while being an acting student and an idol of the popular group, Jin taught himself how to play guitar and piano. He never attended classes for it but managed to learn it by his own means during his free time quickly. Jin was even able to perform a whole song played on guitar on stage. While studying in Konkuk, he had also learned economics and politics. Ever since his childhood, Jin had a predisposition for doing some social job. He was dreaming about becoming a news reporter to help disadvantaged people in bringing more attention to their problems and fight for their rights. Jin's dad was a big figure in forming Jin's personality, and he was the one who involved kid Jin in helping the poor ones. When Jin grew up, he started donating large amounts of money to UNICEF and even became a member of their Honor club at such a young age. Jin mentioned that he is proud to be able to continue what his dad was always teaching him. He also once said that the most interesting subject to talk about with his dad is social subjects.

Jin has a great talent for composing music. His solo songs have been achieving lots of success and the love of the public for years. The fans even say that whenever Jin is working on a melody, it becomes "outstanding."

He has worked on many of BTS's songs such as "Love is not over," "Outro: propose," "Blood, sweat and tears," "DNA," "Stay," "Awake," "Moon," "Epiphany," "Tonight," "Abyss" and etc. You can definitely recognize the uniqueness in Jin's compositions. For example, his solo song "Moon" was praised a lot by many critics for its unique composition and sound.
