STEPHEN COLLINS

COLLINS, Stephen “Steve” Willis, age 72, of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born on May 24, 1949, in Sewanee, to the late Phillip Wayne and Betty Jane (Street) Collins. Steve started his career in banking in 1972, when he was employed at the Bank of Cowan for 14 years, starting as a teller and eventually becoming vice-president and director. In 1986, he became president and CEO of First National Bank in Manchester. In 1992, he returned to Franklin County as a co-founder of Citizens Community Bank. He remained at Citizens Community Bank as executive vice-president and a board member until his retirement on Dec. 31, 2011. During his work tenure, Steve was a member of Rotary Club and had served as president of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. A friend to everyone, Steve was always a helper to those in need and was loyal and protective of his friends and family. In his spare time, he enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, fishing and playing golf and had been a champion bowler in his younger years. He also enjoyed watching movies and listening to classic country, rock and bluegrass music. But most of all, Steve cherished the time spent with this beloved family, especially cook-outs with family and friends. He was a member of Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Jania Collins of Winchester; children, Jeff (Melissa) Collins of Winchester, and Cole (Abby) Frazier of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Jake Collins and Avery and Carson Frazier; sister, Connie (John) Pirani of Gadsden, Alabama; and nephews, J.P. Pirani and Joseph Pirani. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at 2 p.m. chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Michael Clark officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Garner Cemetery.
