He stole money — and then her heart.
A UK woman is spilling the beans on how she fell in love with a convicted serial burglar she’d never met — and whose initial she got tattooed on her body. The self-proclaimed “prison wife” chronicles her bizarre relationship to her over 44,000 followers on TikTok.
“I’d say about a month into talking I realized I’d fallen for him,” Breah Sutton, 21, told Kennedy News of her imprisoned paramour, named Harley Webb, whom she met in August 2020 through a friend who was reportedly dating an inmate.
“My friend was talking to someone in prison and she asked if I wanted to talk to someone in there as well because his friend had asked,” the Wiltshire resident said of the proposal.
Sutton agreed to reach out to Webb, 31, as she’d been single for two years at that point and felt like she “had nothing to lose.”
Sutton didn’t initially set out to find a boyfriend, admitting, “I was kind of just talking to him as a friend.” However, Webb quickly won the heartsick civilian over with his “sweet” demeanor.
“I was shocked at the way he spoke to me because it was so nice and different to how I’d been spoken to before,” gushed the smitten gal pal.
Fast forward a month later, and Sutton had fallen head over heels in love.
“We both felt the same but we were too scared to say anything and then one day my friend said to him you need to tell her, I know you love her,” said Sutton, who added that they made their relationship official in October 2020.
She entered the relationship with full knowledge of Webb’s criminal background. When they first spoke in August 2020, the inmate had revealed to her that he’d been “in and out of prison,” often for burglaries, over the past 10 years, Kennedy News reported. His most recent theft saw him imprisoned in April 2017 for 48 months — and he was sentenced to 26 more months last February for two counts of “putting a person in fear of violence.”
Despite Webb’s sordid past, Sutton was able to foresee a future with him, thanks to his honesty and dedication to bettering himself while incarcerated. The burglar even reportedly taught himself to read and write in the clink after missing out on most of his education while on the outside.
After being limited to phone calls due to the COVID-caused ban on prison visits, the couple finally met in person at Emley Prison in May 2021 — a whopping eight months into their virtual relationship.
“I was so scared but it was nice, and at the end of the visit he reached out and touched my hand, and that’s the first bit of contact we had,” said Sutton. She even got her ball and chain’s initials inked into her chest so she could show him during the visit.
“He loved it; he had tears in his eyes,” the lovestruck lady described of her “prison tattoo,” adding that Webb said he wanted to follow suit but couldn’t due to his circumstances.
Now, every week, Sutton travels seven hours round trip to visit her boyfriend in the clink. She also converses with her beau on the phone a staggering 15 times a day, along with mailing him letters and cards.
Meanwhile, Webb surprises his girlfriend with lavish gifts, from roses to designer shoes and even a handmade statue — which he keeps secret by enlisting Sutton’s friend to send the presents to her address. He then has his other half pay the pal back using his bank account. The inmate’s father also reportedly bought his future daughter-in-law a French bulldog that they can share when Webb gets out of the can.
In return, Sutton buys her boyfriend discounted luxury items, including a Gucci belt, Louis Vuitton shoes and Nike trainers.
Despite their special connection, Sutton says she frequently receives vitriol from “close-minded” TikTok commenters, who call her a “gold digger” or, conversely, claim that Webb gets his money by talking to “loads of girls.”
However, Sutton insists that he’s not a jailhouse gigolo.
“If that was the case I think I’d know by now seen as my videos go viral because if that was me I’d be messaging with proof,” the indignant inmate-lover declared. “But I know that’s not the case. I know he’s only speaking to me.”
Fortunately, Sutton claims that the majority of her TikTok followers support her life choice, claiming, “I’ve more support from strangers than some of my friends.”
Sutton’s parents have also come around to the idea of their daughter having a jailbird for a lovebird.
“In the beginning, my mum and dad didn’t really understand it and would say, ‘How can you love someone or be with someone you haven’t met?’ ” she explained. “Then, obviously, I did meet him and they stopped saying those things, and as time’s gone on they’ve realized it’s not just a fling and it is serious.”
Sutton added: “They will support whatever I do, but I think until they meet him themselves they’re not going to understand.”
They’ll soon get their chance. With his release date coming up in January, Webb has been transferred to another prison that’s closer to the hostel he will reside in for six months as part of his probation.
In the interim, Sutton plans to visit her BF as much as possible until he’s let out — at which point she plans to move close by until they can purchase a home together.
