Governor Stitt sent out a message to the state over social media, encouraging Oklahomans to join him in doing three things this Thanksgiving.
"This week, as we gather across our state with family and friends, to eat turkey and watch football, and enjoy the holidays, I will be doing 3 things and I encourage all Oklahomans to join me," Stitt said in his message posted on social media.
Stitt said first, to acknowledge God's care, and the blessings and freedoms that people are able to enjoy in Oklahoma.
Second thing Stitt said to acknowledge this Thanksgiving is to ask God for forgiveness for not putting him first in our lives.
Third, Stitt said to ask God for forgiveness for failing to love our neighbors as ourselves.
"I believe Oklahoma can lead the nation and teach America what unity looks like in all of our communities," Stitt said. "I believe too often we see the world through a political lens, when we should see the world through a Godly lens. When take time to listen to each other one on one, our humanity transforms us and builds bridges of friendship and understanding."
