Benitez on injuries, form & Brentford

  • Published

Rafael Benitez has been speaking before Everton's trip to Brentford on Sunday.

Here are the key lines from the Toffees boss:

  • Benitez hopes "this game will change everything" in terms of boosting confidence and moving Everton closer to the top six;

  • Abdoulaye Doucoure has been training and "has a chance to feature" against Brentford;

  • Yerry Mina and Dominic Calvert-Lewin won't be fit, while Demarai Gray has only been doing some light training;

  • On injuries, the situation seems worse with key players missing because results aren't going their way, but "the reality is that we have less injuries and we are getting better in this department";

  • Richarlison, who will miss Sunday's game through suspension "knows it is too early to have five yellow cards" and "needs to stay calmer in the game";

  • Benitez says Brentford had an impressive start to the season, but "little by little, everybody knows you better, then it's more difficult to surprise anyone".
