It isn't just the players and coaches that are having a hard time with the Vancouver Canucks' terrible start to the 2021-22 season. According to one report, it's causing a major rift within the family that owns the team.

While the Canucks are owned by the Aquilini family, it's been Francesco Aquilini acting as the Chair and the person calling the shots. However, that could end up changing.

"Canucks ownership is apparently pondering its next move, stunned that things have gone so badly. Postmedia News understands that chairman Francesco Aquilini and his brother Roberto Aquilini are at odds over the direction of the team," said a report in The Province.

"Roberto's never been much interested in the team's affair, it's been seen as Francesco's ship, but if the family name was being sullied, and we know fans aren't speaking well of ownership right now, then he'd be concerned, possibly even towards action."

"This appears to be the case, though what course might be taken is not known."

With the team seemingly in turmoil right now, the last thing it needs is a rift between the family that owns it to pile onto the problems. That said, it's Francesco who hired GM Jim Benning, as well as other key staff members, so perhaps it's time to let someone else have a go at building the team. It may already be too late for this season, but could certainly make an impact in the future.
