Bayer Leverkusen star Amine Adli makes Celtic claim

Celtic have got off to flying starts in some of their early Europa League matches but haven’t always managed to turn it into a positive result. The previous fixture against Bayer Leverkusen was a great example of that. And when the two meets meet in Germany, Ange Postecoglou’s side must be wary of not repeating their mistakes from the reverse fixture at Parkhead, which ended 4-0 in favour of the German side.

In the match at Parkhead, Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky turned in an incredible performance pulling off some tremendous saves, as Celtic could not find a way past him. They surely had their fair share of chances to do so.

Although the eventual scoreline looked comfortable for Bayer Leverkusen, it did not nearly tell the entire story. If Celtic could have taken their chances, it might very well have turned out to be a close contest.

Amine Adli was on the scoresheet that night and as reported by the Daily Record, the Bayer Leverkusen star said:

"“We think Celtic is a very strong team because they have a lot of players with high quality and a lot of experience.“They play very physically and with a lot of energy. So we have to counter it. I think it will be a nice game to watch for the spectators with a lot of attacks. I am expecting a great game.“The game in Glasgow was very good for us. We scored four times. But our goalkeeper saved us in various moments.“So our target should be to be as effective as we were in Glasgow in front of the opponents goal, but we should not make so many mistakes when we have the ball.“Of course we were lucky once in a while. For example in Glasgow, especially at the beginning of the game, Celtic had a lot of chances.”"

Celtic could need to take the game to Bayer Leverkusen in Germany

It’s often a dilemma working out how to approach an away game in Europe. Often in the past, Celtic have focussed on keeping it tight defensively and looking for a goal if there is one to get.

That’s not been the case under the management of Postecoglou though and he has continued to stick to the style of football that he has made no secret that he wants the team to play. And there is no reason to expect anything different in Germany, especially when the Hoops might possibly need a result to keep their Europa League knock out phase hopes alive.

Even a draw would be a big result against Bayer Leverkusen, who have had their own worries in recent times, when it comes to injuries, which has affected their form as well.
