First Alert Forecast: Lake effect snow for Friday

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - With a cold northwest wind coming across Lake Erie, lake effect snow bands will develop early Friday.

Lake effect snow showers will continue, mainly in the Primary and Secondary Snow Belts, through Friday morning and into the early-afternoon hours.

Over the course of the day, most of the lake effect should shift east into the Primary Snow Belt.

General accumulation in the Primary Snow Belt (eastern Cuyahoga County, inland Lake County, Geauga County, and inland Ashtabula County) will range from one to three inches, with some spots seeing up to four inches.

Outside of the Primary Snow Belt, we’re forecasting a dusting to an inch of snowfall.

We’ll get a break in the snow Saturday before our next system drops in on Sunday.

This feature will bring us a scattered wintry mix of rain and snow throughout the day.

We’re forecasting one to three inches of snow, area-wide, on Sunday.
