CT State Police seeking witnesses to fatal crash on Route 2 in East Hartford

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police are investigating after one person died in a crash on Route 2 westbound in East Hartford early Thursday morning.

State Police said Jared Perez, 19, of East Hartford was driving on Route 2 westbound east of Exit 4 in the right/center lane around 12:52 am. There was one passenger in the vehicle, Quincy Hankerson, 20, of East Hartford.

For an unknown reason, State Police said Perez lost control of the vehicle and it crossed the highway to the left, striking the metal beam guide rail on the median and coming to rest there.

State Police said Hankerson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Perez sustained injuries in the crash, according to police.
