COEUR d’ALENE — If you’re tired of runaway inflation, we’ve got a special Thanksgiving offer for you.

If you’re already tired of the cold, the gray, the rain and the snow, we’ve got another tempting offer, too.

By signing up for the Press Forever Rate, you can ensure you’ll never pay more than $26.50 a month for your Press subscription. At the same time, you’ll be registered in a drawing for a week-long, all expense-paid vacation for two in Hawaii valued at more than $5,000.

“Any person, an existing subscriber or a brand new customer, is eligible for the Press Forever Rate and the Hawaii vacation drawing,” said Javis Cornett, the newspaper’s director of audience development.

Cornett, who joined The Press in May, said the forever rate idea came from his previous work as an executive with Sprint Corporation.

“With prices going up everywhere you look, the idea is to provide peace of mind for Press customers, knowing that $26.50 price will never increase for them as long as they remain customers,” Cornett said.

Late last spring, Cornett said, The Press implemented a 9% subscription price increase, caused primarily by skyrocketing wood product costs. Newsprint is recycled wood pulp.

“That price increase came at an especially difficult time,” Cornett said. “There was customer frustration with our prices increasing while our service was struggling due to a shortage of newspaper carriers.”

The Press Forever Rate was introduced in late July on a limited basis, but its popularity led to Publisher Clint Schroeder making the offer available to everyone.

From now through Feb. 28, there’s some added incentive.

The six-night, seven-day vacation in Honolulu includes airfare, hotel and expense money for two. The drawing will take place March 10, and the winner can book the trip anytime before Oct. 31, 2022.
