Delta woman faces automobile homicide, DUI in district court

The Millard County Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges against a Delta woman for her involvement in a deadly crash on Oct.

1. Leslie Dee Crafts, 61, was charged with second-degree felony automobile homicide; Class B misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and a traffic infraction for failure to yield last Thursday in Fourth District Court. Crafts was driving near 1000 South just outside of Delta, when she attempted to cross the intersection, notoriously known for dangerous accidents.

Crafts’ Subaru struck a black Mazda sedan driven by Mona Ladue, 72, of Lehi. According to a Utah Highway Patrol press release, “the two cars struck each other on the front corners,” and Ladue’s vehicle was sent spinning into the other lane, where it was struck by a pickup truck hauling a horse trailer.

“The driver of the pick- up…and his 16-year-old passenger, were unable to avoid the black Mazda as it collided with the front of the vehicle,” the release states.

Ladue was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries. At the time, UHP and the State Bureau of Investigation were looking into possible contributors to the accident. The driver of the pickup truck was not charged.

Crafts is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Dec. 1. She is not in custody.
