November 19 registrations for a few A2 and B2 OLED screens have been spotted on the South Korean National Radio Research Agency site. The SKU format also led to the discovery of 42-inch C2 and 83-inch G2 models.

2022 could turn out to be a big year for OLED TVs, as Samsung is expected to reenter this market with its own standard named QD-OLED. LG is currently the sole provider of OLED panels and it will be interesting to see how it can react to Samsung’s offers, but that will most likely happen in 2023, since the 2022 lineup is already being certified. HDTVTest notes that some of LGs 2022 OLED TV models were leaked in a certificate  from the South Korean National Radio Research Agency site registered on November 19.

The leak only includes 48-inch and 65-inch A-series models plus two 65-inch B-series models, but what is important to point out here is that both series feature the “2” suffix, so this essentially confirms that the naming scheme for 2022 will include A2, B2, C2 and G2 denominators. Vincent Teoh from HDTVTest searched for clues regarding the C2 and G2 series and found that LG is indeed planning to introduce 42-inch as the smallest size and offer 83-inch screens for the G2 series in 2022.

LG's OLED TVs are already popular among console gamers, but the South Korean TV maker is trying to appeal to PC gamers, as well, and this is clearly emphasized with the addition of the 48-inch size for the 2020 and 2021 models. By further lowering the size and price point with the introduction of 42-inch models next year, LG is looking to make the C2 series a best buy for PC gamers. As the smallest WRGB OLED screen yet, the 42-inch models will feature the highest pixels per inch count for sharper text and crisper game graphics. A smaller screen could offer higher peak luminance in many cases, too.

Additionally, LG is preparing to introduce 83-inch screen sizes for the G2 series to make them more in-line with what Sony and Panasonic are offering in the premium sector. The upcoming G2 is expected to feature the brighter Evo panels once again, but it is still unclear if LG intends to add a heatsink similar to what this year’s award-winning Sony OLEDs integrate.
