If your data is important enough to save, it’s probably important enough to protect. And if you don’t relish the idea of never-ending subscription fees, consider a one-time investment in cloud backup from pCloud. With a one-time payment of $122.50 (for 500GB of storage) or $245 (for 2TB) during Black Friday, you can replicate your data online without ever having to worry about drive disasters.

Whether by accident or age, every hard drive fails eventually. Preventing data loss traditionally meant using a USB-based external drive. USB drives offer high capacity and low cost per gigabyte, but let’s be honest. Most of us have had “issues” with remembering to back up assiduously. Also, those drives are easily stolen, lost, or damaged.

In contrast, modern cloud storage services automatically sync folders and/or drives to the cloud, so there’s no forgetting to run backups. Better yet, cloud services keep user data in multiple locations, so if trouble ever strikes drives or data centers, redundant copies remain safe. Most cloud storage services work on a subscription basis, though, so once you’re in, you keep paying every month…forever.

With pCloud, you can back up files to a secondary location on your computer for an added layer of protection, or you can save space and only back up to a single location in the cloud. The service retains up to a year of file versions, allowing you to revert to a previous version easily if you accidentally overwrite a file or experience file corruption. Without backup “versioning,” this sort of protection is cumbersome at best and usually ignored by most consumers. Computer-to-cloud file synchronizations happen in real time as you work, so there’s no worrying about when backups take place.

Making service easy and convenient is a priority for pCloud. A search bar allows you to quickly locate files and folders by inputting their names, and files can be filtered by file format to further streamline searching. Deleted folders and files stay in the trash for up to 30 days before automatic purging, ensuring that if you accidentally discard a file, you’ll have plenty of time to discover the mistake and retrieve it.

Nobody likes to wait, and pCloud won’t make you. The company supports block-level synchronization, meaning that when you update a part of a file, only that part is updated, rather than the entire file. For larger files, this can greatly reduce upload times. File transfers and backups will be as fast as your computer can make them; pCloud will never throttle upload speed.

Compatibility is also an important user concern, and fortunately pCloud service is available on multiple platforms. pCloud can be accessed as a dedicated app on Windows, Mac, Linux, and web browser, guaranteeing access to your files anywhere at any time. A mobile version is also available for iOS and Android, giving you 24/7 access to your files and the ability to access them anywhere.

Cloud storage also tends to be far more secure than local storage. pCloud uses TLS/SSL encryption to protect data while it’s transferring between locations and also stores your data in at least three separate data centers as an extra safeguard. It is extremely unlikely that all three locations could ever fail simultaneously. And if you crave even more security than the included 256-bit AES cryptography, the pCloud Crypto option can add client-side RSA 4096-bit encryption.

To prove just how difficult pCloud’s storage systems would be to hack, the service’s creators came up with a challenge: Whomever could hack into their account would get $100,000 worth of cryptocurrency. After six months of attempts by over 2,800 hackers, not a single person was able to access data and claim the prize.

If you never want to worry about a failing hard drive again, buy a Lifetime Individual 500GB or 2TB storage plan for up to 75% off from pCloud. This deal will only be around for Black Friday, so act quickly if you want to take advantage of them.
