The Morning Show's Jennifer Aniston says it's "so hard to even imagine" doing more episodes of the newsroom drama right now, following its recently concluded second season.
The Friends star, who plays newsreader Alex Levy on the show, was a central player in both season one – which juggled themes of workplace politics and sexual assault – and season two, which tackled subjects as broad as internalised homophobia, COVID-19 and, rather controversially, cancel culture.

Talking about bearing the weight of the issues covered, and how she always saw the outings as bookends to two significant moments in recent history (the Me Too movement and the global pandemic), Aniston remained coy on whether she'd be back for a third chapter.
"It's so hard to even imagine it right now," she admitted, during a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "You know when they say mothers almost have a block: 'I could never do that again!' I'm a little bit in that moment of, 'I don't know if I could ever do that again!' So, we'll see."
If she did return to the world of fictional TV network UBA, though, she'd want to see Alex enjoying "a lot of love and fun and dancing and playing and something with a lot more levity!" (Considering that Alex navigated a return to work, a bad back, a sex scandal, the death of a friend, a smeared public image and contracting coronavirus in season two, it's a presumably tall order).

Aniston's co-star Reese Witherspoon, who portrays Alex's co-anchor Bradley Jackson, said that she'd "love to see how the world realigns post-quarantine" in season three. Though it seems worth noting that the programme has yet to be officially renewed.
"Even though that seems optimistic to say at this point, with people still dealing with the complexity of COVID and really what it's doing to different industries. But just, how the whole world has culturally shifted in so many ways; the way we communicate and work, the way we talk to each other — there's definitely a lot to talk about and tackle."
The Morning Show season 1 and 2 are available to stream now on Apple TV+.
