Traveling during the holidays can be stressful for anyone, including those who are on the road to recovery.
“The holidays are a lot of things for us. they are exciting. they are joyful. They’re also stressful and they affect different people differently,” said President and CEO of Helio Health Jeremy Klemanski.
He says to be aware of the resources around you.
“In Central New York, even if you are here just visiting, maybe you’re not a local resident, we have recovery centers,” said Klemanski.
The centers offer an array of options to help assist in recovery.
“Whether a person just extra pro-social support or if a person needs, you know, maybe some medication or acute services, we can help connect them with that,” said Klemanski.
SoberBuddy is also a resource as an app. The app can also be used by loved ones and friends who want to help assist in someone's recovery.
“Soberbuddy is an app that’s designed to be used really easy to use," said SoberBuddy CEO AND Co-Founder Tara Schiller. “It gives you daily bite-size challenges, motivation, tips, there's tracking and it's all using evidence-based treatment methods.”
Schiller says, the app can be used on its own or can be used as a supplemental tool. “We have specially designed it not to conflict with other ways to get treatment,” said Schiller.
