(670 The Score) After the Bears brass was silent Tuesday amid an uproar about coach Matt Nagy’s job status and future, a leader has addressed the issue internally.
Chairman George McCaskey met with Bears coaches and players Wednesday and informed them that Nagy won’t be fired after Chicago’s game at Detroit on Thursday, Dan Pompei of the Athletic reported. On Tuesday, a report claimed that Nagy had been informed of his impending firing and would coach Thursday before being let go.
Nagy denied that report Tuesday, when the team declined to release a statement or have anyone from ownership or management speak publicly.
"My focus right now is on these players and Detroit," Nagy said. "That's it."
The Bears are riding a five-game losing streak to fall to 3-7, which is the second-worst record in the NFC. Nagy is 31-27 in the regular season and 0-2 in the playoffs in four seasons in Chicago.
