Editor's Note: The below article contains spoilers for Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

How would it change the outcome of the television show Squid Game if a contestant could fly or walk through walls? The cast of Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a perfect group of human and supernatural creators to see pitted against each other in a game of life and death. The movie's characters consist of the modern and classic Ghostbuster teams and a group of demons and ghosts from the Underworld. So, the competition to win the game will be stiff.

In Squid Game, players sometimes get to choose allies in various missions, but there are no set teams. So it's every human and ghoul for themselves!

10. Muncher

Muncher in Ghostbusters: Afterlife

As a ghost, Muncher is fast and can glide through the air at immense speeds. He would also be impervious to the bullets of Red Light, Green Light, making him a formidable competitor. However, Muncher's not an obedient monster like the Terror Dogs, and he also loves to eat. The ghost would probably ignore the game's rules to feast upon the dome's outer shell, which encases the competitors inside the game.

Once satisfied with a full stomach, Mucher would likely exit the game post-haste on his way to find dessert.

9. Callie Spengler

Callie Spengler in Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Callie Spengler was brainwashed by Gozer for the second half of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, but once she broke free of the spell, she was a welcomed ally to the new Ghostbusters team as a mom straight out of an '80s horror movie. However, she still doesn't know how to use a proton-pack or possess the scientific skills of her dad and daughter, so she is unlikely to get past the initial Squid Game challenges.

If Callie is still under Gozer's spell by the time the challenge begins, it's possible the ghoulish evildoer would use her during Red Light, Green Light to eliminate other candidates and perhaps herself in the process.

8. Gary Grooberson

Even though Gary Grooberson is an intelligent and likable teacher, those skills wouldn't do much good in the Red Light, Green Light challenge. Gary couldn't outrun the Terror Dog inside the Wal-Mart, which turned him into a Terror Dog himself. If he couldn't outrun a single monster when his life depended on it, what makes viewers believe he could outrun the entire cast of the movie?

Gary's nice-guy persona could lead to him being used as leverage by other contestants and eliminated in the first challenge of Squid Game.

7. Trevor Spengler

Trevor Spengler is related to a scientific genius, but he doesn't appear to have inherited any of his grandfather's outwitting smarts in the film. He does seem to have some of Egon's bravery, though, which would get him past the first round of Red Light, Green Light. But that wouldn't do him much good in the second-round challenge, Sugar Honeycombs, which requires a delicate touch.

Trevor didn't display a delicate touch behind the wheel of the Ecto-1, so this would likely be his last stop.

6. Podcast

podcast in ghostbusters:afterlife

Podcast is the comedic relief of the modern Ghostbusters team, but he's also an inventive kid who uses his imagination to get himself out of sticky predicaments, as he did against the mini Stay-Puft Marshmallow Men at the end of the movie. In the Sugar Honeycomb challenge, Podcast would be creative enough to find a way to soften the thin wafer and cut out the shape.

He also has a vast knowledge of superstitions and conspiracy theories, so he has probably heard the technique behind winning this game on his podcast.

5. Dr. Winston Zeddemore

Dr. Winston Zeddemore wouldn't have the slightest interest in Squid Game's prize money. This means he would need different motivations to eke out the win. As the challenges become more complex and the stakes get higher, he would likely be the first to opt-out of the game and try to convince a majority to vote against ending it all and returning home.

If Winston couldn't garner the votes needed to stop the game, his career as a Ghostbuster should help him get to at least the third round.

4. Dr. Peter Venkman

Throughout his life, Peter Venkman has battled ghosts and saved the world. Since he has already accomplished so much, he might take the challenges less seriously than his competitors. On the other hand, audiences saw Peter reappear to save the day at the end of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, so perhaps his experience against challenges, both natural and otherworldly, would help him get to at least the halfway point.

One of Peter's drawbacks as a challenger is his age. Now that Peter is in his seventies, he could be one of the last contestants picked for tug of war.

3. Ray Stantz

In the first two Ghostbusters films, Ray Stantz was always playing the hero. As the de-facto leader of the old-school Ghostbusters, he usually figured out a way to save the world from ghostly domination. However, he also loves historical research and might come up with various strategies to win multiple challenges.

It's the marbles challenge that would have sealed Ray's fate since the founding Ghostbuster is too kind of a character to let Phoebe die if the two paired as partners.

2. Gozer

If given the opportunity, the devilish deity Gozer would do whatever it takes to defeat all challengers in Squid Game. Gozer is hell-bent on ruling humankind, but as Phoebe Spengler proved in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, saving the world is in her genes.

Unfortunately, in the movie, Gozer proved to be no match for her ability to rise to the challenge of defeating the demon's centuries-old plot.

1. Phoebe Spengler

Phoebe Spengler is a chip off the old block. She possesses the intellectual genius of her grandfather as well as his passion for saving the world. Even though it would wreck her to see her friends and mentors drop one by one throughout the games, Phoebe would remain undeterred in her mission.

Plus, there are no rules against ghostly apparitions of deceased grandfathers lending a hand. Viewers could see an Egon Spengler cameo if he decided to help his granddaughter win some cold hard cash.
