Amazon Studios is nearing a deal to develop a series based on Mass Effect, the popular sci-fi video game franchise from Electronic Arts, our sister site Deadline reports.
With The Wheel of Time‘s early streaming numbers exceeding Prime Video’s “high” expectations, Amazon Studios chief Jennifer Salke said, “You will see us continuing to invest in fantasy genre of all kinds. We have a genre-focused team on the ground … who work tirelessly with our creative partners on those slates, and you can look forward to more.”
Mass Effect is not the only video game adaptation in the works at the streamer: It was reported in July 2020 that a Fallout series, from Westworld executive producers Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, is also in development.

Which of today’s TVLine Items pique your interest?
Mass Effect will never work as a tv show or movie. But good luck with that.
If the right people are involved it could totally work as a series.
I have to agree the first choice alone will cause offence Bro Shep or Fem Shep, then what are you soldier, engineer, etc. Which ever path you send Shepard on becomes canon. So taking away the choice element from the game so goodbye Renegade or Paragon path. Then which squad mate dies Ash or Kaiden will also cause even more offence. Who you recruit don’t recruit. Do you keep Wrex alive. Is Shep Straight or Gay and this isn’t even that far into the game / now Tv series. And you probably upset a good portion of the fan base depending which way you have gone. The beauty of Mass Effect was choice and your choice as the player have an impact on the game until the end which I wont even mention as if that is shown will now become canon for the next game in most peoples eyes. Point is this isn’t a linear storyline and can not be told as such and to make it as one will just cause great upset among the fans.
They’ll screw it up.
John Shepard will bare no relation to the game character.
Granted you can customise him/her but most identify with the default male Caucasian Shepard.
Change that and a lot of people will bail.
The exact opposite. So many people played customised Sheps, whether male or female. You lose everyone who played as Femshep and everyone who customised Broshep.
Maybe YOU identified with caucasian male Shep but you are projecting by insisting everyone else did too.
