In the first few months of this season, it has been pretty clear that Julian Nagelsmann is a very astute coach. The German coach has made a very good impression during the early period of his tenure at Bayern Munich. Even though the team is currently going through a rough patch, some of the games have seen Die Roten play an exquisite style of football under Nagelsmann.

Along with making the team solid in attack and defense, Nagelsmann will also pass the test of man-management at Die Roten. This challenge becomes even bigger at Bayern since there are so many top players. With top players come big egos, so keeping them on his side is crucial to enjoying success with the team.

According to SportBild, Nagelsmann is working hard to maintain a good atmosphere in the dressing room. The German coach is also keenly following feedback from his players. He held talks with Robert Lewandowski after the Polish striker recently spoke about the problems in the final third.

At the end of tenures of Niko Kovac and Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern, players had reportedly lost faith in them. There were multiple reports after their departures indicating that players were not happy under them. Moreover, the collective and individual performances also witnessed drastic improvement under new coaches.

Nagelsmann has to strike the right balance in tactics and man-management to make sure that players firmly believe in his ideas. There are no doubts about how promising a coach he is, but getting top players to follow and execute his plans is altogether a different ball game.

Considering the nature of football right now, it is crucial for coaches to be very good man managers. Players are much more motivated and ready to go to lengths to achieve success if they are managed well by the coach. Managing players at the emotional and social level is crucial to get the best out of them.

Earlier in his career, Nagelsmann had admitted that “30% of coaching is tactics, 70% social competence.” Considering his idea of coaching revolves around this principle, it is not surprising to see him taking efforts in managing the big players in the dressing room at Die Roten.
