Jurnee Smollett Joins Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones in Amazon Courtroom Drama THE BURIAL

Jurnee Smollett (Birds of Prey, Lovecraft Country) has joined the cast of the Amazon film The Burial. She joins Oscar winner Jamie Foxx (Ray, Django Unchained) and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive, The Client), who were previously cast. Maggie Betts (The Carrier, Novitiate) is directing from a script written by Doug Wright, based on the article by Jonathan Harr.

“Based on a true story, the film follows a bankrupt funeral home owner who decides to sue a rival businessman over a handshake deal gone wrong. The owner hires a flamboyant attorney (Foxx) to handle the case.”

Variety reports that Smollett will play Foxx’s opposing counsel. This is shaping up to be an interesting project with such great actors on board. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more.
