Ford’s 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 is quite a remarkable powertrain and this video shows that with a supercharger, it can be made even more impressive.

The automaker first introduced the Godzilla engine back in 2020 to serve as a replacement for its old 6.8-liter Modular V10. In standard guise, this naturally aspirated 7.3-liter behemoth, which powers the brand’s Super Duty trucks but is also available as a crate engine, delivers 430 hp and 475 lb-ft (644 Nm) of torque.

Eager to see just how much grunt can be coaxed out of this engine, a pair of tuners recently purchased a supercharger from ProCharger and fitted it to the V8. After equipping this engine with the same fuel injectors of a Mustang Shelby GT500, it was able to churn out an impressive 965 hp and 845 lb-ft (1,145 Nm) of torque on a dyno.

Complementing the ProCharger system and the new fuel injectors are upgraded Stage 2 heads, upgraded pistons, a new camshaft, and a dry-sump system. The tuner notes that with a new air intake and pulley, this monster of an engine could be tuned to pump out as much as 1,200 hp.

Many other tuners have been modifying the Godzilla engine since it hit the market with supercharger packages and turbocharger upgrades of their own. Interest in a higher-powered version of the Godzilla V8 has apparently prompted Ford to begin development of a twin-turbocharged variant of its own, reportedly dubbed the ‘Megazilla.’

It remains unclear how much power this new Megazilla engine could deliver but some tuners have already built twin-turbo variants of the Godzilla V8 with over 1,000 hp.
